Obituary for Gregory John Longerbone (Longerbone)

Gregory John Longerbone, age 66 of Oak Grove, formerly of Fridley passed away September 7, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Greg had a long, courageous battle with lung cancer due to Agent Orange. Greg will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle and friend to many and a very proud Vietnam Veteran. His family is proud of his service to our country. He will be missed by many. Greg leaves in our loving care his wife of 24 years, Kay Cantrell Nielsen; daughter, Shannon (Chris) VandeVenter and grandson, Carter; daughter, Kristi Cae Nielsen (Brian) Johnson & grandsons, Cody & Joshua; son, Scott (Jenny) Nielsen & granddaughters, Olivia & Emily; brothers, Dave (Barb), Daniel, Steve (Diane) and Matt (Lynette); sisters, Linda Tauer, Mary (Mike) Stasson; sister-in-law, JoAnna (Mike) Lattery; mother-in-law, Donna “Girlfriend” Cantrell & Donna’s children, Maria (John Z.), Mark (Kathy), Lee, John (Gayle). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews & two aunts. He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris & Betty; his in-laws, Joe Cantrell & Ann Breeding. Greg loved watching sports (including his beloved Vikings), fishing, dancing, singing country music, ANIMALS, frogs (thanks to his niece, Shelly), bonfires and playing with his grandchildren. Memorial service at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH BLAINE CHAPEL (107th Ave. NE & Hwy. 65) Monday, September 11th, 2017 at 6:30 PM with visitation one hour prior. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
