Obituary for Albert George Jacob

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, peacefully passed away on June 1st, 2022 at the age of 88 in his home surrounded by his family. Albert Jacob was born on July 3rd, 1933 in Kour, Lebanon and Immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island on June 27th, 1950 at the age of 16. In 1957 he traveled back to Lebanon to marry Elaine, the Love of His Life and they raised four beloved children Tom, George, John and Ann. Al graduated from Vocational High School and began his career in Food Service at the Dyckman Hotel in Mpls. In 1959 Al established Jacob’s Grocery Store in NE Mpls. He loved his “Northeast” neighborhood Community. He made deli sandwiches for the workers at BF Nelson, opened charge accounts for low income families, delivered groceries to the elderly, and fed the needy. In 1971 Al and his brothers opened Jacob’s 101 Bar and Restaurant, a landmark in NE Mpls for 35 years. At that time, the “101” was among a few restaurants in Mpls to serve Lebanese Food. Al made you feel at home with every visit. In 2005 he closed Jacob’s 101 and retired. To this day customers share their favorite 101 stories and how much they miss their home. Upon retiring in 2005 Albert devoted his time to all things that brought him joy: his family, his church, his gardens and fishing. Albert was preceded in death by his parents George & Rose Jacob; siblings Ann, Jack, Michael and Ramez. Albert is survived by Elaine, his beloved wife of 65 years; his children Tom, George, John (Lori) and Ann; his grandchildren Michelle (Nicholas) and Jessica (Nicholas); great-grandchild Oakley; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
