Alex Zaluckyj, age 86, of Hugo, MN. Born December 28, 1934, in Sil’tse, Ukraine, Alex was the fifth of seven children born to Mychajlo and Kornelia (Pekarska). The family fled Ukraine during WWII so as not to endure communism and immigrated to the US in May 1950. Alex is preceded in death by wife, Tamara, his parents, brothers Omelan (Emil) and Petro Zaluckyj and sister Julia Izak. Alex is survived by daughter, Kristina, brother Stefan Zaluckyj and sisters Maria Pylypczak and Ann Shembarger, many nieces, nephews and cousins in the US and Ukraine. Also survived by Chuck, Alex and Kay-Kay. Visitation at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH CHAPEL (1918 University Ave. NE) Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 5-7 PM with Vigil Prayers (Panachyda) at 7 PM. Requiem Divine Liturgy at ST. CONSTANTINE UKRAINIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH (505 University Ave. NE) Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10 AM with visitation 1/2 hour prior. Interment Oakland Cemetery. Masks requested. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Ukrainian National Museum, Chicago and the Ukrainian Catholic University Foundation.
