Obituary for Anne Stokowski (Kocon)

Anne (Kocon) Stokowski

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Stokowski. Anne passed away at the age of 94 on Sunday July 26, 2020. Anne was a lifelong resident of Northeast Minneapolis and a graduate of Edison High School. She was consistently described as an amazing and remarkable person who folks were lucky and thankful to have in their lives. She had a warm and welcoming smile, an empathetic and generous spirit, a kind heart and a loving touch. She loved little kids, had a curious mind, was fun, had a quick wit and was known for throwing wonderful Christmas celebrations. Anne dedicated herself to helping others, she volunteered frequently, and was a terrific care giver to many always putting the needs of others first and always displaying empathy and compassion. Anne served in the MN state senate and was proud to represent the needs of Northeast Minneapolis, Columbia Heights and St. Anthony. She loved being a wife, a mom, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a neighbor, and a helping hand. She will be greatly missed by many. She is irreplaceable. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Gene Stokowski, parents Victoria and Joseph Kocon, Julius and Elizabeth Stokowski, her siblings and their spouses: Mary (Bill), Polly (Jimmy), John (Norma), Emelia, Jenny (Stan), Helen (Jack), Karl, (Gwen), and Dody (Fred), sisters-in-law Florence Kukielka and Mary Ann Paulson, great-granddaughter Kaida , best friends Ardys and Frank Wolinski.
