Barry Lee Shipley, 68, of Maple Grove, MN passed away suddenly after an aneurysm in his heart ruptured Saturday, October 26, 2019. Barry was born in Rice Lake, WI on September 6, 1951. He grew up in New Brighton, met the love of his life, Rose Shipley, and settled down in Maple Grove, MN.

Barry was a devoted family man and loving husband to his wife of 45 years. He always put family first. His wife, children, and grandchildren adored him. He was their everyday hero.

He worked hard as a laborer at MA Mortenson for nearly 30 years where he gained many lasting friendships. He was everyone's favorite handyman outside of work as well. He was quick to attend to family and friends in need.

He and his mom had a special kind of competition when the Vikes played the Pack. It resulted in many of poems wrote and money sent back and forth on bets. Countless witty texts were sent to his brother and son on game days.

He lived without fear of death, enjoyed the simple things, and felt closest to God in nature.

He is survived by his wife Rose Shipley; mother Valborg Shipley; brother Michael (Kathy) Shipley; son Barry (Chelsea) Shipley; daughter Valerie (Mark) Blanco; and grandchildren Jackson, Isabella, Emmaliana, and Juliette; as well as many special nieces, nephews, family, and close friends.
