Holt, David D., age 81 of Plymouth passed away peacefully on February 10, 2020. Dave grew
up in West Duluth and attended Denfeld High School and the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
After graduating, he moved to the Twin Cities where he began his life-long career in sales. He
spent 42 years working at MotivAction where he sold incentive travel programs. Dave loved to
travel the world with his clients, especially John Deere. He was very proud of his career and his
many sales awards. He made enduring friendships at MotivAction and John Deere and was
especially honored to be part of the “Deere family.”

Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Kay, and his parents, Julius
and Hilda Holt of Duluth. He is survived by his daughters Kristen Flanagan (Bill) of Chanhassen,
Polly Flanigan (Bob) of New York City and Susan Hyvare (Brian) of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren,
Connor (Luke), Max (MinHee), Aimee, Elizabeth, Katherine, Brenden, Jack, Daniel, Robert,
Brigid; and one great grandson Liam; sister Jeanne Berdahl (Jim); niece Amy Olson (Matt) and
nephew Mathew Berdahl (Kara). Dave took tremendous pride in his family, especially his
grandchildren, their spouses, and all their academic, athletic and professional accomplishments.
Dave was a valued member of The Scottish Rite, Zuhrah Shriners and Euclid Lodge No. 198,
Duluth for over 55 years.

Special thanks to the caring staff of N.C. Little Hospice who helped make his last days and
hours painless and peaceful.

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that Bill and I have lost a dear friend and compatriot, but know that his wishes were to join Kay and be at Peace. Dave was truly a "Gentleman" in every way: generous and loving to his family and friends, diligent in every aspect of his 42 years with MotivAction, and he gained much respect from his peers and business partners from Deere
and Company. He loved his life as evidenced by the many stories he would tell about all his adventures over his lifetime.

One of Dave's best traits was how meticulous he was about his personal appearance: pressing his own shirts, sweaters and
slacks when travelling afar for so many years with clients...AND...NEVER A HAIR OUT PLACE!

On a personal note, Dave and Kay shared fun times with us: dinners, birthdays, and other outings as well as weekly lunches
with Bill after Kay's passing. He also thoroughly enjoyed visiting us several times in Palm Springs, during the Minnesota winters.

It is with heartfelt sympathy for all the Holt legacies he has left behind to carry on for him. He will truly be missed every day!

Love and Prayers are with You, Bill and Thelma

Kathryn and I are so saddened to hear of Dave's passing. It was a joy to have worked with Dave to deliver many wonderful experiences to our John Deere dealers and their employees. Dave was truly a significant part of the John Deere family and contributed to the success of John Deere. Throughout life there are just "special" people who enter our lives and Dave was such a person for us. We are blessed to have called Dave our friend, and value to ongoing contact we had with him through the years. We pray that his family will be comforted with their many great memories of Dave just as we will.
