Obituary for Eileen R. Hafften

Hafften, Eileen (nee Holstein) of Blaine died peacefully at home at the age of 66 after a courageous 19-year, four-time battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, and community volunteer.

Eileen was born in St. Paul, MN to Henry and Loretta (McGovern) Holstein. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy (High School) and attended the University of Minnesota where she graduated magna cum laude with a double major Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Development and Communication in 1996. Eileen was Executive Director of Eastside Meals on Wheels in Minneapolis, MN for the past 18 years. She also worked part time the last 16 years at Earle Brown Heritage Center where she was a banquet server. Eileen was passionate about her friendships with co-workers and enjoyed working both jobs. Eileen was a volunteer for the Minneapolis Aquatennial for the past 30 years and was an Aquatennial Vice Commodore in 1996-1999.

She is survived by her husband Ken; daughter, Emily (husband Paul & grandpuppy Gus Gus); son, Nick; older sisters, Louise and Mary; nieces & nephews, Amy (wife Katie & children Vivian & Marek), Bridget (husband Jim & children Carson & Kelsey), Meredith (husband Mitch & children Atari & Echo), Mark (wife Susie), Brad (wife Beth & children Cassidy & Derek), Karen (husband Lance & children Taylor & Carly). She also leaves behind several cousins, many friends and will also be missed by her cat, Lola.

Visitation at KOZLAK- RADULOVICH BLAINE CHAPEL (107th Ave. NE & Hwy. 65) on Wednesday, August 14th from 5-8 PM. Memorial service at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH (641 – 89th Ave. NE) Thursday, August 15th at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior. A family internment will be held at Lakewood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
