Obituary for Elaine Julianne Stano (Boyda)

Elaine Stano

Elaine Stano (nee Boyda) passed away peacefully at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale on December 1, 2019 at the age of 72.

Elaine was born on August 30, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN to Caroline Kubinski Boyda and Julian Boyda. She grew up in Northeast Minneapolis, and graduated from St. Anthony of Padua High School in 1965. She married Eugene (Gene) Stano on January 25, 1970. The couple had two sons, Anthony (Tony) and Scott. Elaine worked as an administrative assistant at school district 279 and later as a receptionist for Allina Health. As a very social person, Elaine greatly enjoyed her working years, and developed life-long friendships with her co-workers.

Elaine loved family trips to the North Shore, and enjoyed watching the lift bridge and trips to Gooseberry Park. One of the most important joys in life was her children, grandchildren, “grandpuppies,” nieces and nephews, and she loved family gatherings of all kinds. Elaine could always be counted on to bring a platter of pickle roll-ups and some polish specialties from Kramarczuk’s. Her love of shopping for deals and bargains was only surpassed by her love of sharing her purchases with family and friends. Everyone left Elaine’s place well-fed and with some extra things to take home. Her generosity of spirit was deeply felt and loved by all who knew her.

Elaine is survived by her two sons, Anthony (Amanda) Stano of Lino Lakes and Scott (Jennifer) Stano of Prior Lake; grandchildren Holden and Sawyer Stano and Ella and Addison Kemper, nieces Christine Carroll Collinet (Edward), Goddaughter Teresa Nelson Wetterhahn (John), nephews Godson Timothy Carroll, Steve Carroll (Landa), Tom Nelson. She is preceded in death by parents Caroline Kubinski Boyda and Julian Boyda, husband Eugene Stano, sisters Nancy Nelson and Janice Carroll.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 4 at Kozlak-Radulovich Funeral Home, 1918 University Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418. Visitation will be from 9-10:00am with a Catholic Service of Remembrance from 10-10:45am. A Celebration of Life gathering will also be held at a later date in 2020.

Elaine was an avid supporter of the fight against pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers, if desired please send memorial donations to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation: https://www.npcf.us/
