Obituary for Elijah Jon Baker
The world lost its youngest and most courageous superhero Friday, June 14, 2019. Elijah Jon Baker, “Super Eli”, 2, of Plymouth, Minnesota, entered eternal life surrounded by his loving family.
Elijah was born to human parents Jeffrey and Staci (Langel) Baker on March 20, 2017 in Maple Grove, MN. His brother Owen (4), whom he admired, and sister Evelyn (3 months) were his closest companions. He often nearly blew his cover by saving his brother from timeout or getting sent to timeout just to be with him. He loved and adored his baby sister even before she was born. There was no jealousy or competition, only curiosity and lots of attention. His ability to show his love and affection for his family and friends was superhuman. As early as he had the strength to move his arms, he could wrap them around a neck and squeeze, creating a precious one-of-a-kind hug; a hug the recipient would never forget. Even strangers were taken back by his sweet smile, energetic demeanor, and ability to grasp attention.
Super Eli was destined to rid himself of pants as they never fit; always too wide, too long, or too bunchy. In his never-ending pursuit to avoid pants, he moved quickly each and every day bouncing from room to room removing and dodging jeans, sweatpants, or shorts. If you put them on him, they fell down or he took them off. Super Eli was busy all the time, which coined him the nickname Babybiz. Babybiz was always on the move whether that meant generating messes, giving out free hugs, trying on every pair of shoes in the house, playing with his trains, pursuing endless adventures with his big brother, reading books, or exploring the outdoors. Elijah had the ability to steal your heart with his contagious smile, beautiful green eyes and blond hair, joyous laugh, and relentless energy. Super Eli’s last act of heroism was to donate his organs to help those most in need of a lifeline. He proved even in the afterlife; he can save lives.
Father Mike will lead the celebration of Eli’s superhero life at Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Maple Grove, MN. Superhero shirts are encouraged. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 prior to a prayer service, which will be held at 2:00 p.m. Ice cream reception will take place after the ceremony.
