Obituary for George Michael Soldatow

Soldatow, George Michael of St. Anthony, MN. Born July 8, 1932 and passed away August 5, 2021. Preceded in death by father, Michael Pavlovich Soldatow and mother, Valeria Alexandrovna Voronov. Survived by wife, Nancy (Marsh) Soldatow; their children, Mike and Valerie; brother, Valentin Scheglowski (Angelina); caring relatives, friends and colleagues. George was a teacher, design engineer, translator and historian, wanting most to be known for his work for the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and the Orthodox Church of America. He was one of the founders and early leaders of Vladimirovo (Lost Lake) in Illinois, a Church Youth Camp and now residential area as well for ethnic families. He served on the canonization and history committees of the O.C.A. He edited "Vernost", a web publication, in memory of Metropolitan Anthony Krapovitsky and translated and published many books and articles about the history of the Orthodox Church in North America. Private family services 9:30 AM Saturday, August 7, 2021 at St. Mary's Orthodox Cemetery Chapel with interment at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to: Valaam Society of America, P.O.
