Obituary for Luke Patrick Galvin

Luke Patrick Galvin, beloved son, brother and friend, passed away on Nov. 29, 2019. Preceded in death by his grandparents Susan Galvin and Clyde Niemi. Survived by his parents, Denise and Michael Galvin, brother, Joshua Galvin, step sister Hayley Mills, Grandmother, Jean Niemi, Grandfather Dennis Galvin, Uncles Shawn (Caylani) Galvin, Loren (Ngan) Niemi, Aunt Tina Galvin and cousins (Bailey, Abbey, Noah, and Lily).

Although our time with Luke was way too short, we have endless memories and reminders of how impactful he was on our lives. Luke had a thirst for knowledge from a young age. He asked questions all the time and really wanted to understand the world around him. He put his full attention into anything he was interested in, beginning with “pots and pans” when he was about two which then progressed to vacuum cleaners. He played basketball and baseball for a few years, but realized sports was not his thing. Other interests included Legos, trains (toy and real), Star Wars, taekwondo, fencing, Civil Air Patrol, fishing, archery and computer gaming. He started working at the age of 15 at ProKart and took an interest in go kart racing which led to riding dirt bikes. Most recently Luke took up bouldering (rock climbing without ropes/harnesses).

Luke graduated with Highest Honors from Maple Grove High School and was a freshman at the University of Minnesota.

We will cherish the time we had with Luke and mourn the lost time ahead. He was a special young man and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
