Obituary for Michael James Campbell

CAMPBELL
Michael James, age 49 of Andover, MN, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 27, 2019. He leaves behind many beloved friends and family.

Michael was born on January 15, 1970 in Coon Rapids, Minnesota to Loretta and William Campbell. He was a brother to four older siblings, Bill, Julie, Karen, and Jack. Michael’s signature dimples, giant smile, and laughter could brighten any room. Growing up, Michael found a passion for music ranging from The Beatles to The Smithereens. He graduated from Coon Rapids High School and was employed at Thomson Reuters.

An avid sports lover, Michael enjoyed playing a variety of sports. Throughout his life, you could find him cheering on the Twins, screaming at the Vikings, and following every Wild game. However, his favorite sports team to watch was any team that his daughters played on and he absolutely loved coaching their softball team. When not cheering on his favorite team, Michael was playing the guitar. He started two game nights, “The Wheel” and “Trivia Night”. One would often find him at Mavericks, Tanners, Beef ‘O-Brady’s or Shortstop Bar & Grill entertaining all as “Sing Along With Michael.”

Michael’s compassionate soul extended far beyond this world. In 2015, he went on a mission trip to Haiti with his wife and friends. Helping others in need was important to Michael. His devotion to his family was undeniable, and his love for his girls was endless. He was a dad who would give his girls 110% and was involved in every aspect of their lives. Michael was looking forward to watching Alison spread her wings at her first year of college and was very proud of her. Katy loved playing games with her Dad and he couldn’t get enough of watching her play sports. He gladly extended his heart to Michelle’s daughters, Halie and Avery, and loved them as his own. He will be dearly missed by all of them.

Michael’s love for Michelle was something everyone would aspire to have. Their love was so abundant they decided not to wait for their formal Mexico wedding. On August 17th, 2019, Michelle and Michael held a private wedding ceremony celebrating becoming husband and wife. Michelle and Michael loved time with their friends, traveling, hiking, playing games, reading and most of all, laughing! Their love was, and is, a beautiful story that we are all blessed to have witnessed.

We will miss that smile, that witty sense of humor, and most of all the love he exuded. While Michael is not here in this physical world, his presence is felt and his love lives within all of us.

We will miss you Michael.

Michael is survived by his mother, Loretta, wife, Michelle; daughters, Alison & Katy; step-daughters, Halie & Avery; brothers, Jack (Sherry), Billy (Brenda); sisters, Julie (David) Houle & Karen Campbell McCall; nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. Memorial service at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH (641 – 89th Ave. NE) on Monday, September 2nd at 2 PM with visitation beginning at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
