Obituary for Richard Edmund Banasikowski

BANASIKOWSKI, Richard

Born July 19, 1963 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Died on September 19, 2016. Preceded in death by parents Col. Edmund G. Banasikowski and Sophia Banasikowski.

Survived by his loving wife, Ewa, and daughters, Julia and Monica Banasikowski; sister: Barbara (Leon) Smith; nephew: Gregory Smith (Tina Edwards); great nieces, Kayla Smith (Patrick Montgomery) and Krystal Smith; great nephew, Michael Smith; and great-great niece, Adelynn Montgomery; as well as other relatives and friends in Poland, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis.

After receiving his B.A. from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University, he attended the Catholic University in Lublin, Poland. His career started as a radio announcer for Polish Veterans of WWII-S.P.K. Station in Milwaukee. He later became research assistant on East Central Europe at Columbia University, English Instructor of Pedagogical and Social Services at the Professional Training Center in Lublin, and teacher’s assistant at Alverno College in Milwaukee. For the last 27 years, he worked at Nacel Open Door where he most recently served as vice president.

While living in Minnesota, he belonged to Holy Cross Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Men’s Rosary Circle.

Rich was a devoted father, loving husband, great brother, caring son, wonderful friend, and passionate Green Bay Packers fan. He will be missed by his family and friends.
