Obituary for Robert "Bob" Horeck

HORECK

Robert “Bob” age 76, of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2023 after a long battle with ALS. Bob was born in Rochester Minnesota on Oct 29th, 1946. He graduated from John Marshall High School and went to college at the University of MN, pursuing a business and computer science degree. Known to be both curious and inventive, he co-founded Compucon Corporation in 1979 and began solving complex problems with hardware and software programming solutions resulting in multiple registered patents. He and his partners grew the company successfully for 28 years and sold it in 2007 to SJE Inc. where he continued to stay involved.

Bob was a dedicated family man. He and Cheryl were married in 1986, and merged their young kids into a family of 7. They loved time together and with friends & family; spending weekends at the cabin, card club with the cousins, entertaining on the holidays, taking in concerts, and movies, attending their children's and grandchildren's events, and traveling around the world. They prioritized immediate and extended family, as well as friends, had a full social calendar, and yet found quiet time to enjoy a good book or a short nap.

An avid hockey player in his youth, Bob continued to play on adult teams into his 60s. Bob was always active, working in the yard, tinkering on projects, or helping others. He was a mentor to many and left a lasting impact on all who spent time with him.
