Obituary for Robert Vanusek

Age 88. Bob passed away on September 11, 2020. He was born and raised in Northeast Minneapolis. After graduating from Edison High School, he served three years in the United States Coast Guard. Bob graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in art education. He had exceptional art talent. Bob had a 32-year career in public service. He was brave, and he encouraged us to take the bull by the horns and to never give up. That is how he lived his life. Bob enjoyed sports, both watching and playing. He was an avid golfer and braved the cold weather Vikings games at the old Met Stadium. From his mother, he developed an interest in politics. A favorite hobby of his was feeding the birds. Bob was a force and made his presence known wherever he was. His absence will be felt by those who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Joan, parents Michael and Julia, and brother Michael. Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Michael Rowlee, daughter and son-in-law Joni and Andrew Hinton, and cousins and other relatives.
