Obituary for Ruth Marie "Ruthie" Willar (Wacker)
Ruth Marie (Wacker) Willar, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2022, in Brooklyn Park, MN, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Ruthie was born on July 27, 1939 in Monona, Iowa to Andrew and Sophie (Mueller) Wacker as one of their 14 children.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 12th, 2022 at Westgate Church, 705 County Road 101, Plymouth, MN 55447.
Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

As an adult, Ruthie left Waukon, IA and moved to Minneapolis, MN to look for employment. She worked at Hasty Tasty in downtown Minneapolis with Dorothy Willar, who introduced Ruthie to her son, Paul. Ruthie married Paul on May 7, 1960 and they recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary this past May.
Ruthie and Paul had a home in Minneapolis before settling in Long Lake, MN to raise their three children; Mary, John and Mark.
Ruthie worked at the Orono School District for 23 years before she retired in 1994.
Ruthie and Paul spent their retirement years in The Villages, Florida where they made many dear friends. They both learned to play golf, and tried most all games at least once. They also took the opportunity to spend time traveling.
Ruthie was happiest around her family. She enjoyed every day with Paul. Their time together was always the most special and neither took that time for granted. Everything they did was a new adventure. She also loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed finding out about what the grandchildren were learning, what sports they were playing, or when their next concert was. With the addition of the great-grandchildren, she had additional opportunities to share her love and learn all about who they were.
Ruthie is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Paul. Children; Mary (Dave), John (Dawn) and Mark. Grandchildren; Nathan (Justine), Beau (Jen), Daniel, Katie, Alan (Kirsten), Erica (Marcus) Solis, Paul (Kailey). Great-Grandchildren; Emmett, Elise. Evelyn, Grayson, Cameron, Sabrina.
