My older brother Steve was once a football hero. As a tight end in the eighth grade, he scored 2 touchdowns against St. Gemma. Later that same game, he was set to receive a punt and he called out "I got it" to his teammates; the ball went right through his hands, hit his 2 feet and shot out 20 yards towards the opposing team, who quickly recovered the ball. Like brothers will do, when the 'St. Gemma' game came up in conversation, we did not talk about his 2 touchdowns that won the game for Sacred Heart, we just talked about the fumble.
My brother Steve is the funniest guy I ever met; many of my friends would agree and have said the same thing. Steve was just one of those guys who could make you laugh at a funeral on Christmas day, he was just that funny. I'll miss you, brother.

Kathy Targosz

When he was a teenager, Steve used the family dog as a means to get girls to talk to him. He would put PJ in the family auto and go through the local drive thru, where the girls would fuss over PJ, who Steve referred to as a "chick magnet".
On another occasion, my husband and I were on vacation on Mackinac Island in Michigan. A horse panicked and took off down the street, causing quite a commotion. People were running for safety.
In a later conversation with Steve, we discovered, unbeknownst to us, that he had been on the island that very same day, and had witnessed the same event, but we had not seen each other.
