Obituary for Teri M. Mattson
Teri Marie Mattson, age 43 of Andover, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019; surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Teri was the heart of her husband Mark Mattson’s life, and the loving mother of their 2 daughters, Samantha and Natalie, and their son Joseph.
Teri was born in Blaine, Minnesota on September 5, 1976. She was the daughter and youngest child of Lawrence and Mary Weisensel. She graduated from Blaine High School in 1995 and the University of Minnesota - Duluth in 1999 with a BA in Psychology. On July 31, 1999 she married her high school sweetheart Mark and they began their life together.
Along with her strong focus on her family she had various jobs that led her to serve as a special education para at Oakview Middle School and Andover Elementary School for many years. She enjoyed attending the kids’ soccer and basketball games and going to the marching band competitions. Teri liked to travel with the family and on many road trips they took. She loved watching football, and even though she grew up in Minnesota she was a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan. She also relished quiet time at home with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by father, Lawrence “Larry” Weisensel; grandparents, Elmer & Marcella Weisensel, Leona & Melvin Jaggi. Along with Mark and the kids Teri is survived by her mother, Mary Weisensel; siblings, Lori (Chris) Bovitz & Chris (Theresa Caspers) Weisensel; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Chuck & Donna Mattson; sister-in-law, Laura (Brian) Keel; nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Visitation will be at the KOZLAK-RADULOVICH BLAINE CHAPEL (107th Ave. NE & Hwy. 65) Monday October 7, 2019 from 5-8 PM. The celebration of her life will be at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH (13655 Round Lake Blvd NW) Tuesday October 8, 2019 at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior and, coffee and cookies after the service. At the families request the burial will be a private event. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation at https://tnbcfoundation.org/
Mark and the kids want to thank all who offered prayers, support, food and assistance during Teri’s illness; while it may have felt you didn’t do enough it meant the world to them.
