HUNSTIGER
Antoinette M.(Toni), age 88. Born in Hibbing, MN on October 14th, 1928 and passed away peacefully at Catholic Eldercare on January 1st, 2017. Preceded by husband, Eugene. Survived by children: Mary Hunstiger (William Blazar), Anthony Hunstiger (Madelyn Purcell), Ann, John and Peter Hunstiger, Susan Schneck (Joshua), Jane Trowbridge (Scott), Elizabeth Swenson and Lucy Mann (Scott), 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Toni was an incredibly caring and creative individual, wife, Mother and Grandmother. She graduated with a degree in Chemistry from the College of St Benedict in 1949. She also married her college sweetheart that year. After moving around the country and raising nine children, she had a remarkable career as a food scientist at Pillsbury and is named as one of the inventors on the patent of Funfetti Cake mix. Toni loved gardening, traveling with Eugene, music, and the arts. She became an Oblate of the Order of St Benedict’s during her college years and her Catholic faith remained an important part of her life for all her days.
Special thanks to the community at Catholic Eldercare and to Shari Berman for their care and support over the many years of Toni’s long journey with memory impairment. Mass of Christian Burial at the CHAPEL AT CATHOLIC ELDERCARE 813 Main St. NE Wednesday at 11:30 AM with visitation from 10 AM until time of service. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
