Many years ago, I remember Bohdan as a classmate at Sidney Pratt Elementary in Mpls. I was so fascinated with him and with Lelde, a girl from Latvia. My horizons were broadened beyond the scope of SE Mpls. Those two classmates set the seed for me to learn other languages--German and French--and to travel to other countries including several Eastern European ones: Hungary, Estonia, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, and East Germany.
Years later I actually saw Bohdan as he was selling Ukranian Easter eggs at a store near our current home.
But I searched for Bohdan today, hoping to let him know I am sad about Russia's aggression in Ukraine. I pray for all of the people in the country but particularly those who lived through WWII and the many years under the Communist regime. My husband and I are acquainted with many good people who reside in the former East Germany. I imagine the Ukrainian people were as pleased with the fall of the USSR as the East Germans.
In memory of a dear classmate, I pray. Mary Killmer
