Obituary for Danny Carl Martin

Danny Carl Martin, 67, entered into eternal peace on Friday, October 3, 2014, at the VA Medical Center Palliative Integrated Care Unit. Danny was born on January 21, 1947 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He graduated from Brooklyn Center High School in 1965 and entered the U.S. Marine Corps on January 5, 1966.

Preceded in death by parents: Carl & Ina and daughter Deborah Elizabeth.
Survived by wife, Elizabeth of 37 years; children: Andrew, Kelly, Jason (Jessica), Aaron (Rose); grandchildren: Nicholas and Alexander; and sister Lyn McCarty and many other relatives and friends.

Danny enjoyed traveling with his family to Puerto Rico, Hawaii and to many cities throughout the continental United States until he became ill with liver disease.

Although Dan’s voice was soft and his words difficult to understand during the last days and weeks of his life, Dan took moments to express his love for his family and friends. We will miss him with every sunrise and sunset, but we are happy that his pain and struggles are over. We know that Heaven has another Marine angel lining its streets.

A visitation will be held at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH BLAINE CHAPEL (107th Ave. NE & Hwy. 65) on Wednesday, October 8 at 9:00 am. Service will begin at 10:00 am, with a luncheon to follow immediately after at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling Cemetery at 1:45 pm.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to close friends and the entire staff of the Minneapolis VA Medical Center PICU for their support in his final days.
