Our family first met Denis on the Little League baseball fields.  He was assistant coach for our son Bryce's  first year of kid pitch baseball.  These kids were young but Denis was determined to teach them the correct way to play baseball.  He wasn't going to baby them and his deep voice was easily heard in the outfield where Bryce spent alot of time that year.  I have to admit I was worried that Bryce would be scared off and never play baseball again.  The total opposite happened. Denis on that field began one of the most important non family adult relationships with my son.  They had this leftie bond.  Denis coached Bryce for about 8 years after that and taught him how to truly love and respect the sport of baseball.

  When we heard the news of Denis' passing it was hard on all of us,  After many tears I told Bryce he could stay home from school. He said no I can't, I am starting on the mound today and Denis would say get your butt on that mound and pitch!
