Obituary for Donald George Snyder Sr.

DONALD “DON” SNYDER

Donald Snyder, 59, passed away from natural causes on Tuesday April 17, 2018.

Don was born on November 13, 1958 in Virginia, MN to George and Dorothy Snyder. He grew up on his family’s resort in Northern Minnesota where he met his future bride who was on a family vacation. Don married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Lynnette, beginning their remarkable 39 year marriage in 1978. Don joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country aboard the U.S.S. Jouett with an honorable discharge in 1981.

Together Don and Lynn raised three children: Tanya, Donny and Daniel. While working and supporting his family, Don attended Crown College where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1993.

Don was an engaging and patient father to his children where lending a listening ear, heartfelt advice and random 2am phone calls to check up on his adult children were routine. Don was a proud family man and the light of his life were his grandchildren. Celebrating birthdays and playing with his grandchildren were his favorite activities as he would play any game, make any silly face or ridiculous sounds and cheer louder than all others during their sporting events to bring smiles to the faces of his grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching others in their walk in life by leading men’s groups at his church, conducting marriage counseling services joined by his wife and leading by example to others in how to be a man of integrity while relying on God’s guidance. Always an outdoorsman, Don loved hunting, fishing, sailing, and scenic road trips with his wife.

Don is survived by his wife, Lynn; children Tanya (Ricky) Temple, Donald Snyder Jr., Daniel Snyder and grandchildren; Caiden, Cailey, Camden, Jessica, Brittany, Joshua, Heather and Kaitlyn.

The memorial service will be held on Friday April 27, 2018 at Church of the Open Door, 9060 Zanzibar Ln N, Maple Grove, MN 55330. His memorial service begins at 11am with a one hour visitation beginning at 10am.
