MINNEAPOLIS - Passed peacefully to the Lord Jesus on April 4 with her son Tom by her side. Born February 22, 1925 in Chios, Greece. Preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 52 years, John T. Checheris. Survived by children: Tom (Vickie) Checheris, Vangie Nicklow (Mark Brattvet), Angela (Chris) Dillon & Leonidas (Kristine) Checheris; "Yiayia" will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Marea (Nathan) Anderson, Stacia (Erik) Lindholm, Tony (Sondra) Nicklow, John Nicklow, Stephan Nicklow, Christopher G. (Melina) Dillon, Eugenia (Mark) Abbott, Natalie Dillon, Johnny Checheris & Michalis Checheris; 9 great-grandchildren; Brother: Pantelis (Kalliope) Athineos and many beloved nieces, nephews & godchildren in Greece and the US. Eugenia was an active member of the St. Mary’s Seniors Organization and enjoyed baking bread for the church and for her grandchildren. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Visitation at ST. MARY’S GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH (3450 Irving Ave. S.) Sunday, April 10th, 2016 4-7 PM with Trisagion Prayers at 6 PM. Funeral service Monday, April11th, 2016 at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the International Orthodox Christian Charities Refugee Support. The unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is of Great worth in the eyes of God. 1 Peter 3:4.
