In Memory of Joan E. Achenbach
Joan Achenbach, age 74, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis with her three sons by her side. Joan had a passion for inspiring young children to learn and was a beloved elementary school teacher in the Wayzata Public School District for more than 15 years. She was a long-time member of the Order of The Eastern Star, achieving the office of Grand Electa in the Minnesota chapter in 1992. Joan was an avid sports fan and athlete who was a high school basketball all-star and enthusiast of running, golf, and skiing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who touched the lives of countless people with her kindness, wit, and generosity. The family wishes to thank the many tireless caregivers who took her under their wings over the last two decades of her life. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Merrick. Survived by her three sons, Monte, Rodney (Deb) and Chad (Jill); grandchildren, Kate and Emily; sister, Cathy Morgas (Albert); and brothers, Stephen Merrick (Carmen) and Stuart Merrick (Jeannie). Visitation at 10 AM and funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 12, at Messiah United Methodist Church, 17805 County Road 6, Plymouth.
