Obituary for Ludmila "Lynn" Johnson

Ludmila "Lynn" Johnson (Kwiatkowski) lost her battle with cancer on September 19th, 2020 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home on Martin Lake in Stacy, Minnesota at the age of 72.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Dale Johnson; children, Lora (Jason) Jury, Kris (Dan) Lansing, Lacey (Josh) Johnson; grandchildren Imani Johnson, Logan Lansing, Leo Jury; sibling, Elizabeth (Dan) Torreliza. She is preceded in death by parents Leonid Kwiatkowski, Alla (Moschkarenko) Kwiatkowski.

Lynn was born on November 29th, 1947 in Kassel, Germany at a refugee camp where her parents were housed during World War II. The family immigrated to America in 1950 and traveled to Virginia for a short time to fulfill their sponsorship agreement, then moved to Brooklyn, New York. Lynn had many fond memories of her early childhood in New York, ice skating at Rockefeller center, taking ballet classes over the CBS studios, and everyday life in their small train car apartment. In 1956 the family moved to North East Minneapolis where Lynn graduated from Anoka High School 1965 and went to school for cosmetology. After graduation, she began working as a stylist at the Red Carpet in downtown Minneapolis. She married Dale Johnson, in 1968 and moved to their current home on Martin Lake in 1972. Over the years there, the couple welcomed 3 children into their home and Lynn opened her own business, The Curtain Factory, where she worked to create high end custom sewn window treatments for clients and interior designers across the state of Minnesota.

Lynn was an accomplished seamstress and artist. She was passionate about art, music, gardening and most importantly spending time with family and friends as much as possible. She pursued her interests in figure skating and dancing in the community and was active in watercolor painting classes at the White Bear Center for the arts and a member of the Forest Lake Garden Club.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date when we are all able to be together safely in person again. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The White Bear Center for the Arts to honor Lynn’s memory. Condolences can be posted here for friends and family to share.
