Obituary for Pauline Reba Hahn (Garner)

Pauline Hahn of Maple Grove, MN passed away peacefully from a long illness on Nov. 7, 2016. She was born July 30, 1937 to Ralph and Reba Garner in Lancaster County, PA. She was the oldest of five children.

Pauline grew up in Lancaster, graduating from Penn Manor High School in 1955. She, loved catching up with her high school friends and visiting family and attended her 60th high school reunion in October of 2015. She was an active member at Covenant United Methodist Church from Cradle Roll to young adulthood. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Billings, MT for many years. In Minnesota, she found a church family at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Corcoran. Pauline remembered every detail of the Youth for Christ Conference in the summer of 1951 when she asked Jesus into her heart.

She was richly blessed the day she feel madly in love with Robert Eugene Hahn, whom she married in March of 1984. The two were best of friends, enjoyed fishing for Rainbow Trout, gardening, long walks and cooking meals together. They created a happy home for their step-children and soon the “step” was dropped and they just became a family. Bob preceded Pauline in death on March 29, 1996. She was broken hearted and remained a widow for 21 years after his death. She moved to Minnesota to be near Melody’s family in July of 2011. As a mother, she made sure that every day ended and began with a kiss on the cheek, a hug and an I Love You.

Pauline had the gift of gab, was quick to smile, made friends of strangers, was a prayer warrior and opened her refrigerator to all who entered her home. She would often heard giving this advice, “A good laugh and a good night’s sleep are the best cures for anything.”

Pauline is survived by her children, Yvonne Morrissey (Robert), Hymera, IN, Melody Hahn-Merges (Kevin), Corcoran, MN, and Matthew Applebach, Seattle, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Morrissey, Hannah Morrissey, McCormick Merges, Kaline Merges and great-grand daughter, Catalina Morrissey. She was proud to be called “Mom” by her step-family, Robin Lee and “Grandma” by Roberta Sunday. She is also survived by her “other daughter” Laurie Donnelly and Pauline’s best friend of 40 years, Diane Langve, as well as her siblings, Jerry Garner (Diane), Cheryl Lichty (Mike) and Gloria Ciarrocca (Larry) all of PA.
