Devoted and supportive father, loving grandfather, accomplished mechanical engineer. Peter passed away peacefully on February 2, 2019, age 90. Born in Roshniv, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine. Peter was preceded in death by his wife Nina Bunik; they had been married 50 years. Survived by his daughters, Maya Bunik of Denver and Tania Bunik (Juri Loutchko) of St. Anthony; six grandchildren who loved him deeply, Larissa, Marko, Nicholas Babiak and Danylo, Nina, Tim Loutchko. Peter came to America from Belgium in 1954. He studied at the University of Minnesota and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Buhler Corporation, Pearson Associates, and The Boedecker Company designing many dry bulk material handling equipment projects for General Mills, Anheuser-Busch and Quaker Oats. He had many supportive sayings: ‘I believe in you!’ and ‘You will receive your grace!’. He will be most remembered as a generous, kind, hard-working gentleman with a great sense of humor. He was an enthusiastic sideline supporter at his grandchildren’s soccer games. As a young man, he played soccer as a forward and they nicknamed him ‘Sputnik’. He volunteered for St. Constantine’s Parish and School as well as for the Good Shepherd Lenten Fish Fry in Denver. He was fluent in Ukrainian, French, and German.

My condolences to the Bunin family during this difficult time. In the Bible, Jehovah God gives us hope. Acts 24:15 says, “there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Revelation 21:4 says, “and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.” Very soon we will see the fulfillment of these promises here on Earth. We hope you find comfort in God’s promises.
